Using Cyclopentolate on Your Child's Eyes
WHY DO WE USE CYCLOPENTOLATE DROPS?
These eye drops will relax your child's focusing system for more accuracy with determining glasses prescription
Instill 1 drop in each eye 45 minutes before appointment.
HOW TO INSTILL DROPS?
Wash your hands, pull either the bottom or top lid and Instill 1 drop in each eye 45 minutes before the appointment time.
If your child is crying, place 3-4 drops on closed eyes where the lids meet and do not wipe away for several minutes. The drops will sting slightly
SIDE EFFECTS
Your child will have blurred vision at near and light sensitivity due to enlarged/dilated pupils for several hours
The drops will sting slightly after instillation.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: dizziness, fainting, mental/mood changes (such as confusion, hallucinations, restlessness, strange behavior).
Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: eye pain/swelling, vision changes (such as seeing rainbows around lights at night), slow/shallow breathing, fast/irregular heartbeat, seizures.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
